This scenic drive through southeastern Sicily combines elegant baroque streets, open countryside, and sweeping coastal panoramas. Start in Noto, then drive up the mountains on beautiful windy roads. Park you car at Riserva naturale orientata Cavagrande del Cassibile, then descend to Laghetti Cavagrande (a natural pool with waterfall among wooded limestone hills) down in the gorge. It's a 40 minute walk down. Take a swim and get ready for the 50 minute hike back up. Continue the drive along the west side of the Riserva, a very beautiful road. We go back into Noto to continue to Riserva naturale orientata Oasi Faunistica di Vendicari, where you can atch flamingo's and an old tuna processing factory. Last stop: Marzameri, a historic seaside fishing village, famous for its picturesque main square, ancient tuna fishery (tonnara), and traditional seafood culture.
