Grimaldi to La Spezia along The Italian Riviera visiting Portofino (1/11)
Route 1 of 11 routes forming a tour down the west coast of Italy to Sicily. All routes link together.
This route follows the coast using the SS1 road. It is a coastal road which can have heavy traffic at times but has breathtaking views. The route could be split into two or more days. I have added a stop at a reasonable hotel in San Giacomo, this could be useful for anyone wishing to catch a ferry from Genoa about 30kms away. The end point at La Spezia is a perfect base for exploring the Cinque Terre fishing villages.
